Middle Eastern

While Middle Eastern students are remarkably well-behaved, they do have a few cultural quirks. If you are not comfortable with these, you should avoid teaching in the Middle East.  

Before choosing a destination, keep in mind your personal objectives and budget. For instance, you might prefer a more liberal, multicultural lifestyle in a less conservative country. Or, you might be interested in saving money.  

United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the most liberal countries in the Middle East. As an ex-pat, you will enjoy a vibrant lifestyle in major cities. Despite being a relatively small nation, it has an incredible number of opportunities for English teachers.  

Qatar, a booming economy and known as “the new Dubai,” is also an attractive option. Qatar offers tax-free salaries, furnished housing, and free airfare. But, you will have to apply for an exit visa to leave.  

Interesting Destination

Another interesting destination is Oman. It boasts a high demand for teachers, especially in the private ESL sector. Like Qatar, it also offers a premium benefits package.  Its people are a warm, welcoming lot who want to make you feel at home.
